Can Gardeners Really Make a Difference for a Healthy Planet?
Now, for the first time in its history, gardening has taken on a role that transcends the needs of the gardener.
Like it or not, gardeners have become important players in the management of our nation’s wildlife. It is now within the power of individual gardeners to do something that we all dream of doing: to “make a difference.”
In this case, the “difference” will be to the future of biodiversity, to the native plants and animals of North America and the ecosystems that sustain them.

Yes!
We have come together from all over North America, book authors, professors, writers, landscape designers, biologists, gardeners, photographers, and more to say:
“Yes, We Can!”
We share an abiding passion that a healthy environment, a healthy planet begins in our own backyards.
Is Making a Difference Hard?
There are many simple changes you can make in your garden that can have a big impact.
We’re here to tell you about the easy actions and choices that you can start doing right now. We’re also going to share our ideas for making permanent and long-lasting changes.
And the choice is up to you. Pick just one idea that you can do right now. There really is power in doing just one thing.
Then pick another step. Help your neighbors make small changes, too.
When all of us act together, positive things can happen. It’s up to each of us to start making a difference now.
What Kind of Ideas will Help Create a Healthier Planet?
Some of our passions include: native plants, wildlife gardens, green roofs, conservation, living walls, rain gardens, ecological restoration, sustainability, environmental healing, conscious living, teaching kids to become stewards of our planet, and much more.
We are dedicated to sharing our passions to help you make healthier choices for your garden, your community, and ultimately a healthier planet.
The team is diverse, and we have many different ideas and areas of expertise. We hope that you will find in these pages good ideas that you can put into action in your own garden and community.
Because we are so diverse, we may find that we don’t always agree with each other. This is a forum for ideas and respectful discussion with an open mind.
We welcome discussion, even spirited debate, in a way that respects differences of opinion and values the person behind the ideas.
Please use the “Team” tab above to learn more about each of us, check out our bios, and read our posts.
Please contact us if you’ve got any questions or we can help you in any way. Or follow us on twitter and Facebook. And Native Plants and Wildlife Gardens is available on Kindle for your reading pleasure
We’re looking forward to building community with you!
